Het Land is a series of images of the polder landscape in Noord-Holland, captured between 2014 and 2024.
The series describes the austere, rural terrain, a product of nature and human effort. Where the images can not capture the wind and the wet, cold autumns or the silent heat that can hit the flat lands in the summers, they reflect the meticulously maintained land by humans constantly battling the corroding weather.
The polders present a stern splendor in their vast emptiness, where an ever-present horizon serves as both boundary and void, marking the continuous dialogue between human persistence and natural force.
